Scary Terry's Quick N Dirty Record Reviews 6/9/2014

by Terry Stevens

PICTURED L-R: Some dude, your mom.

Good, unbiased, record reviews are hard to find.

You won't find any here either.

What you will find are my biased as hell, one to 5 sentence reviews of new stuff.

No ratings either. I don't want to get into a pissing match with someone over whether a 7.5 should really be a 7.6. Life's too short for that.

Killer Be Killed - "Killer Be Killed"

This supergroup features Max Cavalera (Soulfly, ex-Sepultura), Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Troy Sanders (Mastodon) & Dave Elitch (The Mars Volta). It's like Voltron, except made out of heavy metal guys. Also, they make awesome music. If you're a fan of at least 2 out of the 4 member's bands, you'll find something to love here.

Powerman 5000 - "Builders of the Future"

When I imagine what rock/metal will sound like in the far-flung future, this is pretty much what I hear. It's heavy & you can dance to it. The 24th century's top rock/metal band traveled back in time just to give you this album. The least you could do is listen to it.

Edguy - "Space Police: Defenders of the Crown"

I knew I was going be to in for some silliness when I looked at the album cover and song titles. However, I wasn't prepared for just how much I was going to enjoy it. Over the top power metal with crazy sci-fi themes and a cover of Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus" thrown in for good measure. It's summertime. Ditch the oh-so-serious angsty rock/metal for a sec, crank this instead, and smile while you headbang.

Allegaeon - "Elements of the Infinite"

Heavy as hell, technically intricate. When you're ready to get heavy again after listening to that Edguy album I just reviewed. Make this your next stop.
