Make sure you have the following ingredients or add them to your shopping list, because today we’re going to make Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches.
3 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon onion salt
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 bay leaf
1 (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
1 (5 pound) rump roast
In a sauce pan, pour your water, add salt, ground black pepper, oregano, basil, onion salt, parsley, garlic powder, bay leaf, and salad dressing mix. Be sure to stir well, and bring to a boil.
Place your roast in the slow cooker, then pour the mixture from the pan over the roast.
Cover your slow cooker. Cook on Low for 10 to 12 hours; or if you prefer, cook High for 4 to 5 hours.
When done cooking, remove the bay leaf, and shred your roast meat with a fork.
You may serve with Banana Peppers, top with your choice of cheese, etc. I like to add Giardiniera - mild or hot.
