In 2013 the average wedding spending hit an all-time high, $29,858! New York was the most expensive average at $87,000, while Idaho's average was only $16,000. These averages do not include the honeymoon. The biggest expense was the venue and the second biggest was the engagement ring. Another big expense is the "guest experience". Couples are inviting fewer guests, but are doing things to make it a more memorable experience for them. Shuttles for guests and photo booths are two popular examples. People are also spending more on rehearsal dinners.
The average bride was 29 and the average groom 31. This may have something to do with the higher average of wedding spending. People in this age group have established careers and probably have more disposable income if they don't have any children.
