    Suspect had mouse in rectum

    Published: Nov. 10, 2010 at 5:18 PM

SENECA, S.C., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Police in South Carolina said a nude burglary suspect who appeared to be under the influence of drugs was found to have a mouse lodged in his rectum.

Oconee County sheriff's deputies said they responded to a home near Seneca Monday on a report of a burglary and discovered Noah Smith, 31, was naked and lying face down in the doorway of the address, WCSC-TV, Charleston, reported Wednesday.

Investigators said Smith slapped a deputy, who responded by using his Taser to no effect. More deputies arrived and confronted Smith in the victim's bedroom, where he allegedly tried to attack the authorities until he was finally wrestled to the ground and placed in handcuffs and leg shackles.

The sheriff's office said Smith, who was suspected to be under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms, was taken to a nearby hospital, where an X-ray discovered a mouse in his rectum.

Smith, who told hospital staff he could not remember the events leading to his arrest, was charged with resisting arrest, assault and battery, and indecent exposure.

Police: Man admits sniffing spraypaint, throwing oranges at planes

A man who was caught hurling oranges at planes at Mesa's Falcon Field municipal airport admitted to officers that he had been sniffing spray paint, police said.

Police responded to a disturbance call at the airport and found 33-year-old Brian Henio sitting in an orange grove next to the airport, holding a green jug to his lips.

Officers said it appeared that Henio had been drinking from the jug. Police recognized the smell of spray paint and noticed paint on Henio's upper lip, police said.

Henio admitted throwing oranges at the planes and said he didn't know why it was a big deal. He also said he wanted to go to New Mexico, police said.

Police said Henio was "extremely jittery" and was unable to answer questions. When police told Henio that he was trespassing he responded, 'I know, I want to go to New Mexico."

Police told Henio to put his hands on his head, he refused and tried to walk away. Police moved to handcuff him, but he resisted and had to be wrestled to the ground.

Henio was taken to the Mesa City Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of a vapor releasing substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing.

In 1984 it should've been the Tigers vs Cubs in the World Series.  The Cubs lost to the Padres in the playoffs and the rest is history.  I remember watching the World Series and watching him manage the team, he was the man.

Sparky Anderson placed in hospice care

    Associated Press

DETROIT -- Former Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds manager Sparky Anderson has been placed in hospice care at his Thousand Oaks, Calif. home for complications resulting from dementia.

Anderson's family said in a statement Wednesday that they appreciate the support and kindness that friends and fans have shown throughout the Hall of Famer's career and retirement. No further details were released.

The 76-year-old Anderson was inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame in 2000, culminating a major league career that included one nondescript season as a player and an historic run as a manager.

He won 2,194 games as a manager, which was the third-highest total in major league history when he retired, trailing Connie Mack and John McGraw. He now stands sixth, also trailing Tony La Russa, Bobby Cox and Joe Torre. Anderson was the first manager to win World Series titles in both leagues and the only manager to lead two franchises in career wins.

He led Cincinnati's Big Red Machine to World Series wins in 1975-76. He won four National League pennants in Cincinnati from 1970-78 and then was fired after consecutive second-place finishes.

Anderson went to the American League and won there, too, directing the Tigers to a World Series title in 1984 and a division title in 1987. He retired after the 1995 season and was added to the Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee.

"We are very sad to hear the news of Sparky's failing health," Reds owner Bob Castellini said in a statement. "Every day here we are reminded of his contribution to the success of this proud franchise."

The Tigers said they would keep Anderson, his wife, Carol, and their family in their thoughts and prayers.

"Sparky led one of the most beloved teams in franchise history to the World Series title in 1984 and remains the winningest manager in franchise history," the organization said in a statement. "His contributions to the Detroit Tigers remain a significant part of the club's history."

  • That Explains It!

I think we all came from Neanderthals!  I heard Kevin Conrad talking about this and thought I would find the story and share it with you.  I am certain that I descended from the dwarf Neanderthal.  I wonder if there were any "hot" Neanderthal women?

Science confirms theNeanderthal in Ozzy Osbourne

"If there’s a gene for addictive behaviour," says Ozzy Osbourne, "you’d have thought mine would be written in pink neon." The findings of a project to sequence Osbourne's genome will be presented Friday.

There’s a touch of Neanderthal in Ozzy Osbourne. That’s now a scientific fact.

Osbourne, the hard-living rocker who used to down four bottles of Cognac a day, is among the first people in the world to get his entire genome sequenced.

The results will be presented Friday at the TED Med conference in San Diego, Calif.

Among them: Osbourne carries a variant in the ADH4 gene that may well explain “his ability to ingest enormous quantities of alcohol” without killing himself, Jorge Conde, co-founder of Knome Inc., told the Star on Thursday.

Then again, Osbourne’s genes also reveal a probability of alcohol dependency “six times higher than the average person,” said Conde. Knome launched its personal genome-sequencing service in November 2007, and asked Osbourne to take part out of scientific curiosity that he was still alive.

“If there’s a gene for addictive behaviour, you’d have thought mine would be written in pink neon,” Osbourne reflected in his column in the Sunday Times of London.

He’s most tickled about the discovery that he had less Neanderthal in him than George Church, the Harvard professor and co-founder of Knome. And that there was Neanderthal-human interbreeding.

“All this is big news for blokes everywhere, I think: If the Neanderthals could get laid, there’s hope for us all.”

He also discovered that Jesse James, Tsar Nicholas II and King George I are distant relatives and the comedian Stephen Colbert, whom he’d never heard of, is a closer cousin.

“A lot of the other stuff was more reassuring than mind-blowing,” Osbourne said. No “dodgy genes” for Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s or cancer.

“This is the genome of a regular person who has had a pretty extraordinary life,” said Conde. “Given his high profile, it was a good opportunity to explain to people what can be done with these types of analyses.”

Most unusually, the analysis found that Osbourne carries two versions of the COMT gene: both the warrior and the worrier variant.

“Those two sides of my personality sum me up perfectly,” said Osbourne.

“Being a warrior – the crazy, bat-eating Prince of Darkness – has made me famous. Being a worrier has kept me alive when some of my dearest friends never made it beyond their mid-twenties.”

Conde’s message at TED will be a bit more tinged with caution.

“We knew we would not find the gene that explains why Ozzy Osbourne is Ozzy Osbourne. DNA in the vast majority of cases is not our destiny. It just lays down a blueprint for us as humans, not who we are as a person.”

That said, Conde admitted, “A lot of what we do is very serious. This was a lot of fun.”

Two Big Shows In The UK In 2011!

Foo Fighters have announced two massive UK shows set to take place next summer.

Dave Grohl's band are scheduled to play two shows at the Milton Keynes Bowl in July 2011, reports Rocksound.

They're bringing some special friends with them too, including Jimmy Eat World and Scottish alt-rockers Biffy Clyro.

Biffy Clyro play both gigs, which are scheduled to take place on July 2 and 3 -- with Death Cab For Cutie joining them on July 2, whilst the aforementioned Jimmy Eat World play July 3.

More support bands are expected to be announced in due course.

As previously reported by Spinner, sticksman Grohl has been up to his usual tomfoolery again recently, this time appearing in a spoof video in which he 'sues' the Scissor Sisters for $75m (£47.2m), ruing the apparent fact that he saw Jake Shears' "balls."

  • Things We Can Learn From Keith Richards!

    Posted by Mojo

I think any time that Keith Richards is mentioned you can expect some conversation about drugs, drugs, chicks and drugs.  Now add to the list sausages!

You can't do blow if you've had a brain hemorrhage...And nine other "life" lessons from Keith Richards' new autobiography!

    keith-richards-life

“You’re supposed to do as I say, not as I do,” notes Keith Richards in the course of his new autobiography, Life. That in itself is very good advice, given the number of people who have fruitlessly, and even fatally, attempted to ape the hard-living ways of the seemingly indestructible Rolling Stones guitarist.

Actually, Life is full of advice from the much-molested Keith brain – some of it good, some of it less obviously useful, and some of it involving crocodiles. But all of it pretty entertaining.

After the jump, you can find ten tips we gleaned from Richards’ book. Enjoy!

    1. Don’t do heroin!
Of course, as the old joke goes, it’s a wonder Richards has left us with any heroin to do. But he is adamant that smack is neither a substance that gets the creative juices flowing, nor all that much fun if you happen to be addicted to it, which Lordy knows he was. “The life of a junkie is not recommended to anybody,” he writes. “I was at the top end, and that was pretty low.”

    2. “Keep it down, or break it out.”
In other words, people who are doing drugs should either do so quietly so as not to disturb others — or be generous with their stash.

    3. “You have to be conscious to be arrested.”
Richards distributes this pearl in the course of describing his 1977 Toronto drug bust, when policemen arrived at his hotel room but were unable to wake the guitarist due to a combination of sleep deprivation and heroin usage. The Rolling Stone notes that it took the cops 45 minutes to raise him from his junkie lumbers: “I’d been up for five days and I’d had a heavy-duty shot and I was out.”

    4. When you fear a drug deal is about to go wrong, shoot out all the lights.
According to Richards, one of the big problems with scoring drugs in New York used to be that someone would try to immediately steal the aforementioned narcotics off you. The guitarist’s preferred way of dealing with this was to kick the perp in the testicles. But on a couple of occasions, Richards opted to shoot out all the lights in whatever helhole of Lower East Side apartment block he happened to be in at the time and then run like hell. “The statistics are well on your side against being hit when you’re a moving target,” says Richards. “If you look at the odds, one thousand to one, you’re going to win.” (Note: It is possible that statistics may not be Richards’ strongest suit.)

    5. “There’s a difference between scratching your arse and tearing it to bits.”
Richards once offered this piece of advice to the late John Belushi, who either didn’t heed the guitarist’s words of warning or — and this seems more likely — had absolutely no idea what he was talking about.

    6. Mick Jagger makes terrible solo albums.
Some of Richards’ most critical words are reserved for his bandmate and, in particular, the recorded result of his decision to occasionally make albums away from the Rolling Stones mothership. “Mick’s [first] album was called She’s the Boss, which said it all,” recalls the guitarist. “I’ve never listened to the entire thing all the way through. Who has? It’s like Mein Kampf. Everybody had a copy, but nobody listened to it.”

    7. “Crocodile breath. You don’t want to feel it.”
    Self-explanatory.

    8. When cooking sausages, never preheat the pan.
“Preheating agitates them, that’s why they’re called bangers,” explains Richards, whose autobiography actually includes his recipe for bangers and mash. “Very slowly, start them off cold. And then just be prepared to have a drink and wait. And it works. It doesn’t shrivel them up; they’re plump. It’s just a matter of patience.”

    9. Mynah birds are terrible pets.
After a passage in which he describes his love for dogs, Richards notes that he “once had a mynah bird, and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. When I put music on, it would start yelling at me. It was like living with an ancient, fractious aunt. The f—er was never grateful for anything. Only animal I ever gave away. Maybe it got too stoned; there were a lot of guys smoking weed.”

    10. People who have suffered a brain hemorrhage can’t do blow anymore.
That, at least, was the advice Richards received from his surgeon after the guitarist cracked his skull falling out of a tree in Fiji in 2006. The Rolling Stone hasn’t taken cocaine since. “Actually I’ve done so much bloody blow in my life, I don’t miss it an inch,” he writes. “It think it gave me up.”

'Balloon Boy' Dad Invents Back Scratcher

Richard Heene Promotes 'Bear Scratch' Invention

A little more than a year after the Colorado "Balloon Boy" saga that gripped much of the world, the man behind the hoax is selling a homemade back scratcher.Richard Heene, who served 28 days jail time for his part in an elaborate hoax involving one of his sons and a helium balloon, moved his family to Bradenton, Fla., last August.Authorities accused Richard and Mayumi Heene of staging the hoax to promote a possible TV reality show. Mayumi was sentenced to community service for her part in the ruse. Both were ordered to pay for the cost of the search for 6-year-old Falcon Heene after his parents said he took off in an experimental balloon.

Falcon was found hours later when he came out of hiding in an area above the garage of the family home, apparently having been missed in several searches of the house by sheriff's deputies. As questions were raised about the balloon being a publicity stunt, Richard Heene called the accusations "extremely pathetic." It was only after additional questioning that Richard and Mayumi Heene admitted the whole thing was a hoax.Their total bill for restitution and fines assessed by a Larimer County judge was $37,063.03.Terms of the couple's probation included not selling their story or profiting from the saga until December 2013.Now, Richard Heene is using the Internet to sell a $20 "Bear Scratch" back scratcher, which consists of a 36-inch length of tree branch with holders that attach to a wall."You ever walk in the woods and see a bear break off a branch and scratch his back?" Heene asks in his promotional video. "No, he uses the entire tree."Heene, during a video demonstration, points to his invention and yells, "That is a bear scratch, yeah!"Richard Heene said on his website that he has a patent pending on his back scratcher.

Spartans Announce Football Series With Miami

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State Athletics Director Mark Hollis announced Wednesday, Oct. 20 that the Spartans have signed a contract for a home-and-home series with Miami (Fla.). The Spartans will kick off the two-game series with Miami on Sept. 26, 2020, in East Lansing, Mich., and make their first-ever appearance in the 74,916-seat Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., on Sept. 18, 2021.

In April 2009, Michigan State announced home-and-home series with West Virginia (2014-15) and Alabama (2016-17) as well as the extension of its series with Notre Dame through the 2031 season, with two-year breaks in 2014-15, 2020-21 and 2026-27.

"To be the best, you have to play against the best, and over the last 30 years, Miami has been one of the marquee names in college football," Hollis said. "With the second two-year break in the Notre Dame series, it created this opportunity to schedule a home-and-home with a program like Miami that certainly has great national appeal.

"With teams like Notre Dame, West Virginia, Alabama and Miami on our future schedules, you'll be hard-pressed to find a team in the country that will play a tougher non-conference slate. Our fans can look forward to a lot of special Saturdays in Spartan Stadium, as we bring the top programs in college football to our state."

The Hurricanes lead the all-time series against Michigan State, 4-0, but the two teams haven't met since the 1989 season. Bon Jovi has withstood the test of time.  Here's another award for them.  I'm not the world's biggest Bon Jovi fan but realistically they have owned it.  They also used to and I am sure still do get the hot chicks.  It's funny what people thought was hot in the 80's.

Bon Jovi will be the inaugural recipients of the Global Icon award at this year's MTV European Music Awards (EMAs).

Bon Jovi will receive the Global Icon award at this year's MTV European Music Awards (EMAs).

The American 'Livin' On A Prayer' rockers will collect the newly introduced trophy when the music channel's annual European ceremony takes place in Madrid, Spain, on November 7.

MTV executive Bruce Gillmer said: "There's no question that Bon Jovi has achieved iconic status across the globe and are widely recognised as one of the most beloved and influential rock bands of all time."

The band - who have sold over 125 million albums and scored number one hits in countries across the globe with tracks including 'Always', 'You Give Love A Bad Name' and 'Wanted Dead Or Alive' - will also perform at the event.

Bon Jovi have also been inducted to the UK Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame during their career, and this summer completed a 12 night residency at London's O2 Arena.

Leading the nominations for this year's EMA awards are Lady Gaga and Katy Perry who are both in the running to win five categories, and go head to head with each other and 'Russian Roulette' singer Rihanna in three of them: Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song - some of the night's biggest awards.

Plan B, Shakira, Kid Rock, Kings Of Leon and Linkin Park are also set to perform at the awards.  (ContactMusic.com)
