This week weird vampires, dead dogs, and Liam Neeson beats everybody up.

These are the movies released in theaters Friday October 5th, 2012.
    Frankenwennie - Rated PG
    Frankenwennie
In a remake of a short film by Tim Burton, Victor loses his dog Sparky.  So in grand fashion the dog is resurrected and the fun begins.  Out of all the “horror” children’s films that came out this year, Frankenwennie should be the best.  I could give you actual scares.  Tim Burton might make this too adult for the mainstream movie going audience but it will not stop me.

Verdict - A great Halloween for your kids over the age of 9.  I have heard this is a bit scary.

    Pitch Perfect - Rated PG-13
    Pitch Perfect
In this movie musical, A young girl wants to become a radio DJ (I could teach her) but her father makes her go to college and she ends up in a singing group.  So is this a dance movie minus the dancing? I would just say “THIS SUCKS” and move on but the cast does have Brittany Snow, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Elizabeth Banks, and John Michael Higgins in it’s supporting cast.  So it can’t completely suck.

Verdict - Pitch Perfect is a perfect movie if you like Glee.  I LOATHE GLEE.

    Taken 2 - Rated PG-13
    Taken 2
I told you not to piss off Liam Neeson. But did you listen to me. NO!.  Neeson’s entire family is being targeted as revenge for everybody he killed in the first movie.  Taken was such a great action movie.  I have no clue why they would think to make a sequel.  If it is half as good as the original I will be happy.  Taken had heart and you could sympathise with Neeson.  I don’t think that kind of emotional attachment will be found in the sequel.

Verdict - I expect a good action film but any where near the quality of the original.

This week tons of comic book movies, a lesson in trying to kill yourself, and for some reason Dracula is a resort owner.

These are the movies released in theaters Friday September 28th, 2012.
    Hotel TransylvaniaRated PG
    Hotel Transylvania
Dracula (Voiced by Adam Sandler) owns a 5 star hotel for monsters and is trying to keep his daughter from marrying a human.  The jokes look bad.  The idea makes me cringe. It seems like another kids movie doing too many pop culture references and lazy toilet humor.

Verdict - If I was selecting a “scary” movie for kids I would rather show ParaNorman or wait for Frankenwennie next week

    LooperRated R
    Looper
A time traveling hit man get sent a future version of himself to kill and things go wrong.  A nice time traveling story made better by the two leads Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis basically playing the villain.  I am very interested any time Bruce Willis plays the villain.

Verdict – Should be a good Sci-FI film but not great.

    Robot and FrankRated PG-13
    Robot and Frank
A old man with dementia is given a robot to help him cope.  Someone grab me a tissue.  The quality of this movie so solely based on the performance of Frank Langella who won an Oscar for Frost/Nixon.

Verdict – It’s fair to say this will be good

    Won’t Back DownRated PG
    Won't Back Down
Maggie Gyllenhall and Viola Davis fight the system to make their kids schools a better place.  I have a bad feeling about this movie.  This is about a corrupt school system that may make every district seem terrible.  If its political message is downplayed this should be a interesting look at how to make a difference.

Verdict – I won’t be rushing out to see this.

    5. Resident Evil: Retribution - Rated R - $6,701,803 ($33,469,530)
Movie – Rating – Weekend Domestic Gross (Total Domestic Gross)

    Still In Theatres
The Bourne Legacy - Rated PG-13, The Campaign - Rated R, The Dark Knight Rises - Rated PG-13, Dredd 3D– Rated R,  For A Good Time, Call . . . – Rated R, Hope Springs - Rated PG-13, Last Ounce Of Courage – Rated PG, Lawless - Rated R, The Master – Rated R, The Odd Life Of Timothy Green -Rated PG, ParaNorman - Rated PG, The Possession - Rated PG-13, The Words – Rated PG-13

These are the movies released on DVD Tuesday September 18th, 2012.
    The AvengersRated PG-13
    The Avengers
This is the biggest movie of the year.  Made more money than I could in 100 life times. While the Dark Knight Rises is better, there is no denying that The Avengers is fun.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1Rated PG-13
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns: Part 1
This is based on the groundbreaking graphic novel.  How ground breaking?  Well Batman would never be as popular as he is now without Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.  It was influential in Tim Burton’s 1988 Batman, Batman: The Animated Series, and Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.  It gave Batman a hard edge.  The creators have taken to recreating the graphic novel panel by panel plus the guy who played Robocop is voicing Batman.

Next week Johnny Depp is a weird vampire, love story between a boy and his dead dog, and people need to learn one lesson: DO NOT PISS OF LIAM NEESON.  HE HAS A CERTAIN SET OF SKILLS AND WILL WHIP YOUR ASS.

  • A Letter From Charles To Marilyn

    Posted by Mac D

Recently Charles Manson sent Marilyn Manson a letter.  This the first time Chuck has sent anything to the man formerly known as Brian Warner.

    To Marilyn Manson –

It's taken me a long time to get there from where I could touch M. Manson. Now I got a card to play – you may look into my non-profit, ATWA, and give Manson what you think he's got coming for Air, Trees, Water, and you. Or I will pay Manson what you think Manson got coming – the music has make Manson into Abraxas Devil, and I'm SURE you would want some of what I got from what I got. It's a far out balance. Beyond good and bad, right, wrong. What you don't do is what I will do – what you did a sing-along, and let it roll and said how you saved me a lot of steps – I don't need, it's not a need or a want. Couped – coup. Ghost dancers slay together and you're just in my grave Sunstroker Corona-coronas-coronae – you seen me from under with it all standing on me. That's 2 dump trucks – doing the same as CMF 000007

    Charles Manson

Yeah, not sure what any of that means.  I know I don’t want to know what that means.  Thought I find it very humorous that Charles Manson is hitting Marilyn Manson up for money.  Does Marilyn Manson still have any money?

The Story Of How Mac D Personaly Impacted Raw.

I believe I am famous now.  Last Night's raw was directly impacted by me Mac D!  Here is a taste.

    Where is Mac D impacting?

Can you see it?  Here it is!

There is Mac D via TXT

Yep, thats right.  That guy is texting me! I am so cool.  Though shouldn't he put his cell phone away during a performance?

  • The Slamcast: WWE Night Of Champions (9/16/12)

    Posted by Mac D

The 2012 Night of Champions is headlined by Randy Orton vs Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio challenging Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title, and for the WWE Title it will be CM Punk vs John Cena.

On the announcing front it looks like John Bradshawn Layfield will be filling in for Jerry "The King" Lawler as he rests from his heart attack.  Good call WWE.  Outside of Paul Heyman, JBL is the best choice to be the color man with Michael Cole.  JBL has stated that he is only keeping the seat warm for Lawler and will vacate his position once Jerry comes back.  I predict Lawler will be back in a month or so.

This Friday Night sees Randy Orton battle Tensai, Daniel Bryan challenge World Champion Sheamus, and Kane vs Kofi Kingston.

How much better does a couple days make.  Jerry "The King" Lawler had a heart attack last Monday on Raw.  He is doing a million times better.  No Brain damage and the doctors think he might be able to wrestle again.  He is still out of action but I feel much better knowing that we have not seen the end of Jerry "The King" Lawler.

This week Charlize Theron looking good, we have to go find Nemo  . . again, AND ZOMBIES!!!!

These are the movies released in theaters Friday September 14th, 2012.
    Finding Nemo 3DRated G
    Finding Nemo 3D
A Clown fish loses his only child and must go find him NOW IN 3D!!!  I have written in this blog how much I am not a fan of re-releasing things in 3D.  Disney does it right.  They don’t throw it in our face (I am looking at you Star Wars), they just let us know that it’s there and let the fans enjoy it.

Verdict – I am looking forward to the possibility of taking my 4-year-old nephew to see one of my favorite Pixar movies of all time.

    Last Ounce Of CourageRated PG
    Last Ounce Of Courage
This is the story of a Grandfather and his Grandson and how they deal with the death of their son/father in war.  After a bit of research this film was created as a form of Christian Ministries.  On of the directors also directed End Of The Spear, which was pretty good.  Christian Ministry movies are usually ok and uplifting.

Verdict – While the Christian themes are a nice change of pace, I worry about the addition of political themes.  Hopefully this will be more Pro Soldier then anything else.

    Resident Evil: RetributionRated R
    Resident Evil: Retribution
Milla Jovovich returns as Alice in this 5th Resident Evil movie, and yes she is still kicking the crap out of zombies.  This entry will see the addition of fan favorites from the video game series including Ada Wong, Barry Burton, and Leon Kennedy.  As long as I remember that these movies are no longer like the awesome video games I will be fine.

Verdict – I didn’t see Resident Evil 4 for a reason.  These movies, like the Underworld series, are good but never create any sense of urgency to watch them.

    For A Good Time, Call . . .Rated R
    For A Good Time Call . . .
Two friends need some money.  So the logical thing to do is start a phone sex line.  Somehow this all leads to romance.  The leads (Lauren Miller & Ari Graynor), the director, and writers have not had much experience.  This leads me to wonder how the balance between sex jokes and everything else will work.

Verdict – Eh it could be good.  Much like Bridesmaids, the trailer doesn’t help For A Good Time Call . . . so we will have to see for ourselves.

Snow White And The HuntsmanRated PG-13
    Snow White And The Huntsman
The Classic tale of Snow White gets a smokin hot Charlize Theron and medieval warfare added to it.  I have heard good things but given the fact that this is a fairy tale unnecessary combat I don’t believe this will be great.

Next week rowdy teens in the woods, Jake Gyllenhaal takes on a cartel, and Doctor McCoy from Star Trek tries to make us forget a 90’s Stallone dud.
