These are the movies released in theaters Friday November 30th, 2012.
    The CollectionRated R
    The Collection
In this sequel to the 2009 horror movie The Collector (yes I don’t remember The Collector either), Arkin leads some mercs to raid The Collector’s house.  I had to read the Wikipedia entries for both movies in preparation for this blog.  I am still confused as to what’s going on.  This seems like a lack lust rip off of Saw or any other type of slasher movie.

Verdict - Instead of watching The Collection, go watch Halloween (1979)

    Killing Them SoftlyRated R
    Killing Them Softly
Brad Pitt investigates a Mob protected high stakes poker game.  Pitt always seems to have fun doing these gritty crime movies, and I always love watching them.  This was on the festival circuit this summer and was wildly loved.

Verdict - Should be interesting and entertaining.

    Anna KareninaRated R
    Anna Karenina
Based on the Classic Novel, Keira Knightley is cheating on her husband, Jude Law, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson.  This is one of Leo Tolstoy’s most loved novels (though who really loves War and Peace?)  Knightley and Law could help this movie but I just can’t get excited about historical love stories.

Verdict - Maybe if the Girlfriend dragged me.

    ParaNormanRated PG
    ParaNorman
This child friendly scary movie is great.  Kids love it.  I love the idea of it.  Win-Win.

    Men In Black 3Rated PG-13
    Men In Black 3
MIB3 was a lot better than it should have been.  Will Smith and Josh Brolin work together well.  Most importantly it was funny and entertaining.

Next week Gerard Butler in another romantic copy and the early runner for 2012 movie of the year gets released on DVD.

These are the movies released in theaters Friday November 21st, 2012.
    Life of PiRated PG
    Life Of Pi
A boy is shipwrecked as his family moves their zoo from India to Canada.  The boy is helped on a journey home by a kick ass jungle cat a.k.a a tiger.  Life of Pi is a story of friendship between a boy and a animal.  We have seen this movie before several times which several different animals.  The difference this time is director Ang Lee. (Yes he is forgiven for Hulk)  Lee’s movies have not always been good from a scripting/plot side however they always look beautiful and majestic.  I recently read an interview where Lee said he took lessons learned doing CGI for Hulk and applied them to Life of Pi.  Let’s hope he learned a lot.

Verdict - Life of Pi should be good if the plot can match the visuals.

    Red Dawn (2012)Rated PG-13
    Red Dawn (2012)
In one of the more unnecessary remakes that I can remember, Washington Teens fight against a North Korean invasion.  The original Red Dawn played on the 1980’s fear of the Russians and is only really believable in that context.  I have no idea why some one thought this was a good idea.  However this is a action movie and with Chris Hemsworth and Jeffrey Dean Morgan I do believe this will be watchable.

Verdict - THE CHAIR IS AGAINST THE DOOR I do hope they keep the coded radio messages in.  Those those were hilarious in the original.  This very unnecessary remake should be watchable.

    Rise Of The GuardiansRated PG
    Rise Of The Guardians
Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny, The Sandman and Jack Frost try to stop The Boogeyman from draping the world into darkness.  Long time readers are now expecting me to launch into a tirade about how stupid that last sentence was.  I do think Rise Of The Guardians is ridiculous however I am not the target audience.  My friend took his 6 year old daughter to this and she loves it.  Thats enough of a recommendation for me.

Verdict - Not a kids movie I would want to go see, but Rise Of The Guardians is picking up a fan base.  It can’t be that bad.

    Also New To Theaters
    Searching For Sugar ManRated PG-13
    Searching For Sugar Man
This is one of the most interesting Music Documentaries that I have heard of in a long time.  Folk musician Rodriquez made 2 albums in the 70’s and didn’t make a splash in the US.  He gave up music.  His albums were released in South Africa where he became huge.  This is the story of two of these South Africans and their journey to see if Rodriguez is alive or not.

Verdict - This is a fascinating story that I hope to see some day.  I wonder when I will become famous in a foreign country without knowing it.

    The Expendables 2Rated R
    The Expendables 2
I saw The Expendables 2 this past week.  It was a good action movie.  Chuck Norris deserves an oscar.  I will say that I was disappointed with the lack of Jason Statham but Arnold and Bruce were tons of fun to watch.

Next Week Brad Pitt is a killer working for the mob, Josh Brolin plays a young Tommy Lee Jones, and some dude should collect stamps instead of body parts.

I was able to check out James Bond’s latest Skyfall this past weekend.  Skyfall is the best bond in twenty plus years.  Daniel Craig is amazing as always however the reason this movie is so great is Javier Bardem.  Craig’s Bond has been missing a classic over the top villain.  Bardem is that and better.  I hope he had fun in this role, I had fun watching him.  Judi Dench’s M plays a large part in the film and in my enjoyment in Skyfall.  Overall I loved this - 9/10

These are the movies released in theaters Friday November 16th, 2012.
    LincolnRated PG-13
    Lincoln
See the life of the 16the president of the United State’s life interpreted by Daniel Day Lewis and Steven Spielberg.  This is one of the long running dream projects of Steven Spielberg.  That right there makes me interested but he was able to get one of the greatest actors of our generation Daniel Day Lewis to play the lead.  This has 10 Oscars written all over it.

Verdict - I never pictured Honest Abe as a screamer but I can’t picture Daniel Day Lewis not screaming.  I am very interested in Lincoln.

    The SessionsRated R
    The Sessions
A young man with an iron lung checks with his priest, William H Macy, and decides to go see Sex Surrogate Helen Hunt.  A sex surrogate is a therapist that might have sex with you.  I probably should not watching Frasier reruns while writing this.  And yeah this is based on a true story.  This story is weird, and I like it.  Helen Hunt can act so it should be enjoyable.

Verdict - This might be good but I wonder if I should go see help?

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2Rated PG-13
Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2
This is what I think about the Twilight Saga and everything associated with it.

    I hate Twilight

Skyfall is the top grossing Bond film ever and the 4th greatest opening gross of 2012 (behind the Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, and The Hunger Games).  I expect a sequel quickly.  I am also in amazement with Taken 2 who just keeps on making money.  There won’t be a sequel but Liam Neeson can keep on making action films.

    The WatchRated R
    The Watch
Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Jonah Hill are the neighborhood watch who battles aliens.  My neighborhood watch is just filled with old people.

Next week old men fire automatic weapons, a great story of a boy and his tiger, and North Koreans take over Washington,  some one should stop them.   How about THE WOLVERINES WOLVERINES!

Daniel Craig returns for his third turn as english spy James Bond.  This time Bond must help M (Judi Dench) figure out who is killing a bunch of MI6 agents.  It could be Javier Bardem.  I have really enjoyed Craig’s turn as Bond.  But it has been pointed out to me is that Casino Royale was awesome, Quantum of Solace not so much.  I think the addition of Bardem as the main villain will help the overall quality of this film.  Also more screen time for Judi Dench wouldn’t hurt anything either.

Verdict - I must see this immediately with a Martini, shaken not stirred.

    The Amazing Spider-ManRated PG-13
    The Amazing Spider-Man
I enjoyed this more than any of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films.  But it felt like I had seen it all before because I did 10 years earlier.  I am excited for Spider-Man 2 and Jamie Foxx as Electro.

Next week a scottish princes and the final Twilight.  It seems very slim on the new movie pickings for the week and next.

    FlightRated R
    Flight
Denzel Washington lands a plane and is a national hero.  But was he drunk?  Denzel Washington could read an Anatomy textbook and I would find it entertaining.  It is very hard to believe that this is Robert Zemeckis’s first live action film since 2000’s Cast Way.  Zemeckis has shown a talent for telling awesome stories but has that faded away with time?  Probably not in the hands of Denzel Washington.

Verdict - Oscar Buzz?  Perhaps but Denzel shines in a movie that may or may not get me to stop drinking.

The Man With The Iron FistsRated R
The Man With The Iron Fists
Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Rick Yune, and former WWE Superstar Batista lead an all star cast as The RZA creates an ultimate weapon and has to join a band of warriors to defend a village.  Sounds like a 70’s Kung Fu movie to me.  Crowe will add depth, Liu will kick ass and make the fight scenes fun, and BATISTA SMASH.  First time director The RZA (Yeah he is from the Wu Tang Clan) is a very interesting choice.  He loves Asian culture but I wonder what kind of Urban vibes will be presented.

Verdict - This might not be perfect but The Man With The Iron Fists looks to be a awesome B Action Film

    Wreck-It RalphRated PG
    Wreck-It Ralph
A video game villain desides to be a nice guy and starts hopping to other arcade cabinets to find a purpose.  Normally I would say this is just a shameless attempt to cash in on video games.  The voice cast is the norm for this kind of movie.  Two things stand out to me,  two things make me think there is huge potential for Wreck-It Ralph to be a classic. 1. This is the directorial debut of one Rich Moore.  Moore is one directors of The Simpsons and also Futurama.  I always get pumped to see former Simpsons staffers branch out.  That show has been on the air for over 20 years for a reason and I know visually this thing is going to be awesome. 2. Cameos from Bowser (Super Mario Brothers), Dr. Eggman (Main Villain of Sonic The Hedgehog), tons of guys from the Street Fighter games, and Pac-Man.  The creators want to actually make you think the original characters in the movie are in a real game universe and love gaming enough to push for these characters to be in for a couple seconds.  Think of Who Framed Roger Rabbit but for Video Games

Verdict - While Brave more than likely will be voted best Animated Movie of the year, Wreck-It Ralph has the talent behind it to be remembered for years on end.

    The Campaign
Lets see how fun politics could be with a movie from Will Farrell and Zach G.  Tuesday can't come soon enough

    A Christmas Story 2Rated PG
I wish this was a joke.  IMDB did not have a poster and I know there is one but I don't have the emotional energy to find in on google.  Some one thought it would be a good idea. to create a very dumb very real direct sequel to A Christmas Story.  Ralph wants a car instead of a BB Gun, and I want to gouge my eyes with a spoon instead of watching it for 24 hours straight.

Next week our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, apparently a movie about Abe Lincoln that doesn't involve vampires, and Bond, James Bond.
