  • Addicted to the Rush

    Posted by Jon Rockin Rogo

On November 8, Canada's legendary powerhouse trio Rush will simultaneously release a two-disc live record entitled “Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland” as well as “Moving Pictures: Live 2011” on vinyl and digital formats.

Captured in April at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena during the extensive Time Machine World Tour, “Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland” marks the band’s first live album recorded at a U.S show, a deliberate nod of gratitude to the first city to support Rush on its radio airwaves.

The tour featured a set filled with classic's, fan favorites, and a glimpse into Rush’s forthcoming 20th studio album “Clockwork Angels.”  As a centerpiece for the shows, the band performed their landmark record “Moving Pictures” in its entirety – a first in the band’s long and illustrious career.  For your viewing pleasure, “Time Machine 2011: Live In Cleveland” will also be available via BluRay and DVD.

“Moving Pictures: Live 2011” marks the first live recording of the band’s most successful album to date.  Originally released in 1981, this year marks the 30th anniversary of “Moving Pictures,” which features some of Rush’s most well-crafted songs including “Tom Sawyer,” “Limelight,” and “Red Barchetta”.  VH1 will be airing a 2-hour show culled from the footage as part of their annual “Rushashana” program on Thursday September 29.

This fall, the band will be returning to the studio to resume work on their highly anticipated 20th studio album, “Clockwork Angels” due to drop in 2012.

  • More Rock Autobiographies on the way and Chris Cornell does Letterman

    Posted by Jon Rockin Rogo

The year of the rock autobiography continues…

Having already heard from the likes of Sammy Hagar, Steven Tyler, Scott Weiland and Rob Lowe amongst others this year, look for Duff McKagan’s "It's So Easy (And Other Lies)" to be released on Rocktober 4th.  This will be the third original Gun’s N’ Roses member to release a book, following the 2008 release of Slash's self titled autobiography and Steven Alder's 'My Appetite for Destruction: Sex & Drugs & Guns N' Roses', which was released last year.

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi's official autobiography, "Iron Man:My Journey through Heaven and Hell with Black Sabbath" drops on November 1st as well as a tell all autobiography from former Deep Purple and current Black County Communion front man Glenn Hughes.

2012 will bring more interesting reads with autobiographies expected from Billy Idol "Dancing with Myself", Bret Michaels “Roses & Thorns,” Pete Townshend (untitled) and the late Ronnie James Dio (untitled) who began work on his autobiography prior to his untimely death, his wife Wendy is working to complete the book.

Must see TV this week:  Chris Cornell on the Late Show with David Letterman this Thursday, September 22nd.
