  • New Tool Record in May?

    Posted by Jon Rockin Rogo

Tool appears to have announced that they will release their as-yet-untitled fifth studio record in May of 2012. This would be the first new material from the band since 2006's '10,000 Days'.

In typical Tool fashion, the band made the semi-announcement via a cryptic newsletter posting on their site, which also covered such topics as the Rapture and Taco Bell. You can read the full thing here.

An except from the newsletter reads as follows: "No matter how many new Tool tunes are currently complete, I will personally guarantee that the new CD will be released on May 22, 2012 (or May 15, 2012)."

  • ZZ Top Almost Finished with New Record

    Posted by Jon Rockin Rogo

The new ZZ Top studio record will stay true to the sound the band has been laying down for over 40 years. The still untitled Rick Rubin-produced project is expected to be released sometime this year.

It's not clear whether the record will be done when ZZ Top opens the 'Gang of Outlaws' tour with 3 Doors Down on May 25, however it's likely fans will get their first taste of the new music on television, as the song '25 Lighters' is being used in a marketing campaign for Jeremiah Weed whiskey.

  • KISS Seeks Veteran Roadie for Summer Tour

    Posted by Jon Rockin Rogo

    Talk about a killer gig...

KISS needs a roadie and they want to hire a veteran to help out.

The band, who are touring with Motley Crue this summer (including 2 Michigan shows in September @ DTE & the Allegan County Fairgrounds) have been long-time supporters of the US military...donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Wounded Warrior Project. They're now participating in Hiring Our Heroes to give a job to a touring set carpenter who will travel with the band from July 14th through September 25th. The lucky veteran who gets the gig will be part of the team that assembles the KISS stage set, helps run effects during the show and takes down the set afterwards.

Applicants do not need to be a trained carpenter, but will be required to work long hours.

To apply for this job, send an email to hiringourheroes@uschamber.com with your resume and contact details.

    Best of luck!

  • Bassist Robbie Crane Quits Ratt to Join Lynch Mob?

    Posted by Jon Rockin Rogo

After 15 years with the band, bassist Robbie Crane has left Ratt.

Crane is rumored to already have touring commitments with Lynch Mob. A Lynch Mob mega-reunion occurred this past weekend when original drummer (fellow Dokken alumni) Wild Mick Brown and the band’s second vocalist, Robert Mason (now in Warrant), joined the current Lynch Mob lineup of George Lynch, Robbie Crane, vocalist Oni Logan and drummer Scot Coogan on stage in Arizona.

Meanwhile Ratt continues to write songs for their new studio record, the follow-up to their 2010 comeback album 'Infestation', and also plan on releasing a compilation collection through iTunes.

Pearcy and guitarist Warren DeMartini have been demoing songs for the currently untitled record as well as working with the Foo Fighter's Dave Grohl on a separate project.

Vocalist Stephen Pearcy has recently inked a deal for a new book (no title yet), which should be finished later this year for an early 2013 release.
