  • People's Choice Awards 2012

The People's Choice awards were last night. I wanted to watch them, but didn't get a chance to.

I wanted to though. I enjoy watching celebrities embarrass themselves with poorly scripted jokes, ham acting at the podium, and accepting awards they really really don't care about.

How do you know they don't care?

Two big winners weren't even there.

Katy Perry won five awards and Johnny Depp won two. Both of them are rumored to be going through relationship issues so it makes sense not to attend...or maybe not?

If you know it was gonna be your night to get a crapload of attention and adulation, wouldn't you use it to get over the drama of your personal life?

    Yeah, me too.

  • One Of The Most Dangerous Toys For Kids...Ever

If I said that 70,000 to 80,000 emergency room visits per year were attributable to one weapon, you'd say we need to consider whether this weapon should be illegal, right?

Well...this 'weapon' is actually treated more like a kids toy. It's your typical BB gun or air rifle. And every year, a lot of them for Christmas, they are given to children who may be even too young to attend Kindergarten.

And recently an 18 year old from Ovid was shot and killed by an air rifle.

  • Coachella 2012 Lineup Announced...And Other Interesting Details

    Posted by Span

Coachella 2012 is going to be another blockbuster year for the festival. Firstly, their lineup has sparked so much interest that it killed their website, Coachella.com.

Secondly, They're doing something different. They're going to be doing the same lineup for TWO weekends instead of one. So tickets might be much easier to come by this year relative to last year when they sold out in a week.

    Some of the headliners include:

    The Black Keys

    Swedish House Mafia

    Arctic Monkeys

    Bon Iver

    Florence + The Machine

    Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg

Remember, Casey Anthony was ACQUITTED IN A COURT OF LAW by a jury of her peers in the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony.

However, she was CONVICTED of providing false information to the police regarding the investigation.

Whether you believe in our court system or not, these two facts cannot be ignored. In the court of public opinion she's dead meat no matter what happened.

This case breeds a lot of hostility in people that's been fascinating to watch. Not sure whether that's good or bad.

Because of course, the ramblings of the most infamous woman of the last couple years need to be recorded.

Did she kill her child or not? The courts say she didn't. Well...they say they can't prove she did. But the child is still dead.

I'm willing to bet she didn't want this to get out. But it did. Not sure if that's good or bad.

I hope Tim Tebow gets a commission for all this madness. Of the top 10 hottest searches for today, Tim Tebow was related to five of them:

    1. John 3:16

    2. Tim Tebow

    3. Broncos

    4. Denver Broncos

    5. Tebow Broncos

You'd think he was the first guy to ever play football. Dude even beat out the baby of Beyonce and Jay Z! The kid's magical.

  • Rick Santorum's 'Santorum' Problem

Rick Santorum is riding high. His showing at the Iowa Caucasus brought him nearly neck in neck with frontrunner Mitt Romney. The popularity helped him to raise $1 million in campaign financing in a single day soon afterwards.

Overall, his work to become the Republican nominee for president is going very well and could yield results.

But no matter how it goes, he'll always have his 'santorum' problem.

Gay rights advocates disapproved of some comments he made concerning gay marriage so they sought to link his name with something...unfortunate.

  • Soccer Goalkeeper Scores 90 Yard Goal

Yeah it was wind-aided. Yeah, it's a freak occurrence that will probably never happen again. But Tim Howard will take it.

Tim Howard is only the 4th goalkeeper in the history of the English Premiere League to score. Afterward, he expressed remorse.

Because as a goalkeeper he knows how it would feel to have such a thing happen to you.

Oh well. His team still lost 2-1 so he can say he, at the very least, contributed on both ends of the field.

After all the hype, controversy, miss-spoken statements and rallying cries the situation has changed. Changed for the better or worse is up to you to decide.

But for Michele Bachmann, it's over.

After her poor showing at the recent Iowa Caucasus Michele Bachmann is pulling out of the race to be the Republican nominee for president.

At one point a frontrunner, she's fallen far enough behind to decide to call it quits.

  • Marietta's Blog: Last.fm And...Yellow Ostrich?

Marietta has excellent taste in music even if it veers into the weird side of things sometimes. Here's one of the tools she uses to stay up on the latest music:

Do any of you guys use last.fm? I dearly hope so. But for those of you who don’t, let me tell you a bit about it. Last.fm is like a facebook/Pandora combo for music. It’s one of my favorite websites and I’m completely obsessed with it. Last.fm keeps track of whatever you listen to on your computer or mobile device and puts it on your profile. Just like facebook, you can have friends on last.fm and you see their statistics, such what artists they listen to the most and what songs they’ve listened to recently. From the music you listen to, last.fm will also recommend you new artists. And similar to Pandora, you can make various radio stations based off an artist or genre, or even a friend’s music library. You favorite bands have their own last.fm pages which will show you how many people listen to them and their most popular songs. Events are also listed on the website, including concerts and music festivals closest to you.

That was probably a terrible summary… the obvious solution is for you to go to http://www.last.fm/home and check it out for yourself. If you do wind up making yourself a last.fm account or if you already have one, you can look up alegria7adriann and see what you think of my music.

Well. I hope that is at least somewhat interesting. If not, here’s a song I’ve been obsessing over. It’s kinda weird, but I like weird.

This song is AWESOME. Marietta has picked a solid recommend. Again.

Why is Marietta the Intern so into Of Mice And Men? I have no idea. But she attempts to explain in this blog post:

When I came into the station the other day I was greeted by a wonderful surprise! The single for one of my favorite new bands had arrived! The CD was just sitting there, with the words “Of Monsters and Men – ‘Little Talks’” printed on it. I was absolutely ecstatic! I asked Span about it right away and he told me he’d listened to it, but wasn’t really wild about it. Needless to say, I wasn’t thrilled with that response. Thus this blog post! I want you to love Of Monsters and Men because they are absolutely amazing! And who knows, they could be on air soon, you never know!

Their single “Little Talks” is available for FREE DOWNLOAD on iTunes RIGHT NOW: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/little-talks-single/id487933654 You can also check out their tumblr here: http://ofmonstersandmenmusic.tumblr.com/ Here’s their single, “Little Talks”. Enjoy!
